I am a fan of Veronica Roth and have read the first book in her Divergent series and completely fell in love with her and her writing. However the problem here is since she finished writing those novels and moved on I just can’t seem to like anything else she is writing. I feel like I might be just comparing her recent books to the Divergent Series. I feel bad but I just can’t seem to enjoy her latest books.
I really struggled to sum my thoughts and feelings about this book into a review. The book is good and has lots of action but what really bugged me is with a lot of dystopian books they give background and this one doesn’t. I understand that in their world you are divided into factions but what I really want to know is why?
This whole book is based on choices and what happens after you make those choices. The book centres mainly on Triss and her initiation into the faction she chooses (no I’m not going to tell you what that is, read it yourself to find out) and the struggles she goes through to prove herself.
In a galaxy powered by the current, everyone has a gift.
That is a very intriguing and engaging sentence on a blurb that makes you want to read the book but its just a façade for this book is awful.
